Our Prime Minister Deserved Better.

Teresa MaY DID TRY HER BESTHer team of Ministers thought only of claiming the limelight and took every opportunity to make life difficult when dealing with the EU.The EU could not have the courage to exploit WITH their enexpected helpers among the Conservatives and took the position of belittling the UK into the pleading FOR A WORKABLE DEAL. Now let us see whether the  same ministers appear smart enough to do better. MY admiration for Teresa MaY IS AS HIGH AS IT COULD BE.

I think that is harsh. She may have been inflexible and unimaginative but she never 'swayed in the breeze'. She stuck to a course which in practical terms was the only way Brexit really could have ever been delivered and people didn't support it. History won't blame her for that.I'm not sure Mr Whittle is Ealing's own Dr Paisley and think rather he has a limited grasp of how and why people come to live in this country. What he fails to realise is that high levels of immigration are not brought about by EU membership but due to an economic imperative driven by an aging population. If we were to leave the EU there might be fewer Catholics but I suspect their replacements would be even less to Mr Whittle's liking.

Re. Theresa May.  She was utterly hopeless as a Home Secretary, and even worse as a Prime Minister. I even doubt that she would be able to cut it as a primary school headmistress.  It might be brutal to say, but she was the single child of a vicar. And she is a childless adult. And, irrespective of those facts, intellectually she is an empty box.  She has no ideas, no original thoughts, no intellectual convictions, she sways in the breeze. The only personal conviction, that she holds in life, was born from her upbringing. Namely she held on to the nebulous notion of 'doing good by my country'.  Unfortunately that 'quality', in isolation, is totally inadequate and makes her unsuitable for any position of influence in public life. Which her track record proves.  I do feel sorry for her, she lacks any self-awareness.  To paraphrase Harry Callahan, "A good man has to know his limitations."

Osswald Whittle said, "Our Country were not anti Europe but encountered problems starting with peoples who were flooding in with the intention of bettering themselves in a way they could never expect to do in other parts of the EU region. This followed swiftly with the wrong sort of beliefs."As the majority of people who have come to this country from the EU are Catholics, are we to conclude that Mr Whittle is the head of the local lodge of the Orange Order?

It is true that the Grand European project is a bit detached form the people on the ground. The unfortunate thing is that our own leaders have been rather dishonest with us about the immigration. When Poland and other countries joined we saw that other countries restricted immigration and also had rules to deny benefits to people without work. Ours said that only 16,000 Poles would arrives and along with other lies damaged our trust in government but also fuelled anti EU sentiment. Companies and Business did well out of a low wage highly educated workforce who were flexible. I know a lot a people with good education and jobs back in Poland, Bulgaria and other places who came here. However this is not the fault of the EU. Our government pushed very hard for the expansion to include east European countries as it was seen to provide strength against the Russians. But funnily enough the Russians must be laughing at brexit as it will weaken the EU. I do worry whether we will end up with a right wing government that will scrap the NHS to keep Trump happy. That would be a gross insult to the people who died in D-Day and the second world war who fought against fascism. We are in a mess and the problem is that the solutions offered by Farage and Boris are the no deal and a new identity as a vassal state in Trumpistan

I feel a tiny bit of sympathy for Theresa May. but it is interesting that very few of the characters now jostling for position really challenged her seriously at the time. maybe they knew that their fellow colleagues would let them down in the process. last night i heard we would have had a better deal in barnier had been our negotiator!! It really is a mess and the prospect of no deal is very real. I listened to andrea leadsom on Sunday talking about a managed no deal and she was talking nonsense as her managed no deal would involve a lot of negotiation. also the much quoted article 24 of the WTO rules would require EU approval. So this headlong rush into nonsense is getting quite serious. Given Boris is not known for detail i can't see how he will be a negotiating success. The EU have disbanded their negotiating team. So we reject a deal and then want to negotiate a deal or managed no deal (requires a deal) or go to WTO(requires a deal). Definitely a real pickle!!! As the comedian Henning Wehn said. Brexit is brilliant fun as we just don't know what is going to happen next. so the tories spend weeks electing a new leader then have a conference and in a month renegotiate what took us 3 years to get to before leaving on the 31st October. I think there will be quite a few candidates hoping to come second so that they raise their profile to clear up the mess.

She was presiding over her own clooeagues whom she should have been able to help her and not the EU. Our Country were not anti Europe but encountered problems starting with peoples who were flooding in with the intention of bettering themselves in a way they could never expect to do in other parts of the EU region. This followed swiftly with the wrong sort of beliefs. We needed to do something to aliviate the growing menace, the EU tried to play the BOSSMAN with the help of our own Con/party illusions. Time will tell. Graham. The EU should understand the difficulties of their Make up.

May is the thrird worst Tory PM of my lifetime after Heath and Cameron. Her one virtue is tenacity. Her folly was calling an election and presiding over a hopeless campaign. She has never been 100% for Brexit and was an easy touch for the EU side.
