Why Do Travellers Seem To Love Ealing So Much?

It seems that finally the injunction obtained by the Council is starting to work. As Cllr Dabrowska has explained there was a process to go through before it became fully effective.However, this seems to have just moved the issue to the next borough with Hounslow now suffering including Gunnersbury Park.What I found interesting is that most of the recent encampments have been very close to the borough boundaries. There does seem to be some sort of attraction for travellers to this area. Does anybody know what it might be? I did meet someone along time back who worked for the traveller unit at Ealing Council and he said it was the biggest in London and the official traveller sites that we have in the borough are also relatively large. Is this what draws them here or is there something else?

Maybe so, but this problem is newish to Ealing, I don't recall anywhere near this number of regular incursions in the past?

I think travellers like all London outer boroughs, don't they? where there's more open space available? Suspect you'd find much the same is true in Epping, Sydenham, etc.

The injunction(s) only cover private land which is why they are now targetting building sites and car parks.They were recently in the closed, now privately owned, car park in Brentford and the site owners had to get an eviction order (which they did commendably quickly), But the 'travellers' left behind piles of rubble and other filth.

A bit of a travellers' encampment today in the car park of B&Q, North Acton.  Just wondering whether the injunction does not cover private land and thus now more likely to be targeted?

It was the west London police commander who recently asked Ealing (not very lefty), Hounslow (even less lefty) and Hillingdon (not at all lefty) to introduce blanket court injunctions to make it easier for them to deal with the problem with their increasingly stretched resources. Until then they'd supported the previous arrangements.

You can now expect more private land to be illegally camped on where the owners will have to go court to get them moved on just as Lendlease have had to do in Chiswick.  Pity the unknowing householder or small business that makes the mistake and suddenly finds they are being asked for money for a job than they expected.

It is historical and traditional, "Gypsy Corner", the intersection of the A40 Western Avenue with Horn Lane gives you a clue.Also, the utterly gutless approach taken by our lefty Council obviously encouraged Travellers, until Cllr. Dabrowska fought for and won, after much lefty opposition, a common sense solution.

Possibly the endless stream of gullible householders who can't/won't check that the person taking their rubbish has a waste carrier licence or that the passing "we've spotted a slipped tile on your roof" cowboy 'tradesman' is anything of the sort.
