In the dark?

Last night around 6:30 I drove between Blakesley Ave and the A40 in Perivale. I managed to avoid three cyclists ahead of me in different places, all without lights. Are they under the impression that we motorists have such good visual acuity to save then from collision? Unlit cyclists are a menace. BTW no unlit cars seen.

Should cyclists have to undergo a proficiency test with knowledge of the highway code too?

I saw them no thanks to them. Pedestrians are not obliged to have lights. I do not know the weight of my vehicle and neither to you. Are you defending law breakers?

Now i'm slow in the mobility department, i'm also partially sighted. Because of those problems i don't see the car or bicycle at night, i see their headlights. Any cyclist caught riding without lights should be horse whipped. I most have at least one close call every couple of months because of those idiots, and it isn't just on the road either, it is a pavement problem as well. Rechargeable batteries only cost a fiver at Tesco.All cyclists should be FORCED to wear high visibility. clothing, something with a unique number on the back.

Unfortunately there are also some people who don't think that they should put lights on until lighting-up time.  This includes when it is raining or misty and visibility is poor.The mobikes have fixed lights - why don't all bikes have default lights that work when you pedal plus a bit longer?  Some new cars have headlights that automatically go on but the rear lights don't.  Something it appears that not all owners realise.

I regularly find myself waving at cars with no headlights on after dusk.  I don't understand how it's possible given that I would regularly glance at the dials on my dash and would surely notice if they were too dark to read...  unless more modern cars have permanently lit dashboards - a real safety issue if so.

But you saw them...Also, what are your headlights for? Also you do know pedestrians don't have lights...Be careful in your one tonne vehicle please.
