Unfortunately a lot of people won't pay any attention until they are jolted and forced out of their routine. Day to day life can be pretty stressful in itself which is I guess why they say that: "Life is what happens while you are busy doing other things."

You said it. I’m told forums safe for another year but costs come out of the ward budget. About £9k less to spend on projects in Northfields. Can’t speak for other areas. There’s less accountability and ever less transparency in local government here. LIP consultation was a joke (not publicised widely or effectively) yet affecting not just lives but livelihoods.

No unfortunately we were unaware of it until too late. We used to get a news sheet reminding us of the date. Maybe someone else attended. We'll try and do better next time if there are still any :). I suspect that more of us should make an effort. Don't it always seem to be that you don't know what you've got till its gone...

Did anything interesting come out of last night’s forum? We’d be interested in hearing about it.
Or to try and register so that you get info from the website re meetings...

Well put Arthur. And if someone can take notes and forward them to the editor of this site I’m sure they will find their way onto the front page. It’s time to hold these councillors to account and tell them what we want, not just take what they think is best for us.
After 8 months of research and discussion with the Chief Officer of Ealing Council and failed discussion with Walpole councillors I have produced a People's Agenda for the Walpole Ward Forum. This is to be held tonight in St John's Church 7-9:00. I have a prior engagement but I have asked other residents to hand out these agendas. Silly to discuss other items and forget the herd of elephants in the room.Library closure. No stop and shop bays. No 1hr am and 1 hour pm CPZ etc etcDon't sit at home this is your Guillet Jaune moment.

The Northfields forum was a shambles. Chair (Labour) ignored the published agenda and simply let guests speak first because ‘they wanted to get away early ‘.As a consequence there was little time to fully debate the key issues. While forums are to continue for the next year they are still under threat of being scrapped as a cost saving measure. Sadly they are one of the few ways to directly address important local issues and hold councillors to account. If we lose them then it’ll be dictats from on high and propaganda pieces in Around Ealing.

There is an agenda but the reference link is far too long.
