Ealing has the largest traveller population in London, with an estimated population of 2,000. Most other councils throughout Britain have a dedicated and well oiled plan of action when it comes to unauthorised encampments, and that includes a method of reporting it on their websites. Ealing has nothing, not a sausage. Search out Traveller encampments on their website and you'll get the picture. Do a general Google search with the same search term and you'll see how other councils deal with it. When a fair or circus hit's town it also brings a mountain of mobile homes. The first thing they do is touch base with the council, and that is before they get here. Once they do that the council can supply the necessary resources to make their stay a pleasure for both the community and the travelling fairground personnel. There are few complaints, and when they are gone the area is normally left in its original condition. With the lot that are causing problems though there is none of this. They turn up, wreck the area, and leave everyone with a massive headache when they are gone. One group does it right, one group does it wrong.
