Walking in Lammas Park this afternoon,

I was heartened to hear a father tell his little boy kindly but firmly that he must look where he was going on his scooter and remember that the park was full of people. Give that man a medal for not staring at his phone while the kid ploughs into our poor ankles.

In 1965 the police never had this sort of problem. In those days we had two seperate police houses holding 60 odd police officers and their families, and that bloody great tower on top of Brentford's nick. It was awesome for the neighbourhood quality of life.Well, it was either that or the ability they had to produce the charged at court with the odd black eye and get away with it.

I spent over 50 years in the shadow of Lammas park. It truly is a jewel in the crown. No gangs, very little vandalism, well looked after, and it was used by Little Ealing school for the occasional sports day. The riff raff element left it well alone for some reason. I moved to Greenford 6 or 7 years ago and it's one of the places that leaves me homesick when i think of it.I wonder when the council will get around to building a sports centre on it.
