Refuse Collections

I don't know if this is borough-wide but the collections in Northolt seem not to be happening on the correct day quite often. In Poplar Court, rubbish has not yet been collected yet this week (normally on a Thursday) and recycle bags went two weeks without collection last week. Getting information out of Ealing Council is like getting blood out of a stone. After a bit of prompting, the reply I eventually received this morning was that "collections have been delayed in part this week due to a combination of adverse weather on Friday last week and operational issues, mainly with vehicles." I of course heard nothing from any of the three Northolt West End councillors who were copied in and there is nothing on the Ealing.gov.uk web site about the issues. It is so frustrating

Dear Ealing Council, or anyone for that matter.Can somebody say when bins are collected from Kenmuir Mansions Pitshanger Lane??They are overflowing, attracting rats & even the caretaker is at a loss.If you do not wish to provide this service, can council tax be withheld & people dispose of their own rubbish?

Most tea bags are not recyclable. In the words of PG Tips, "Like most of the tea bags in the UK, our teabags are made with about 80% paper fibre, which is fully compostable along with the tea leaves contained in the bag. The remaining packaging includes a small amount of plastic which is not fully biodegradable". I happened to be away on Monday and Tuesday and so am putting a second week's food waste in the caddy.  Luckily food waste is collected weekly (OK - when it IS collected) rather than fortnightly as the recycling and residual waste is.  Using the food waste bin has helped me to gradually reduce the food waste so it really is now nothing I could eat eg banana skins, egg shells, tea bags and citrus peel.  That's unless anyone has a recipe and I know that there will be something!  I noticed that Riverford had a recipe for soup using vegetable peelings the other day.  I haven't tried that yet.Missing the recycling collection is more of a problem as we have more of this than anything else and has meant that I have taken some glass bottles, cardboard and cans to the local street recycling banks to reduce the volume.  (I already flatten and squash all cardboard boxes, cans and plastic bottles.)You can contact the Council using My Account.

The problem is the predetermined lack of communication. If that had been posted on their website i would have shrugged my shoulders and dumped it in the big wheelie stink bin like everyone else. The facility to do it is up and running on their website.Why almost everything the council do always involve shafting the end user is beyond me.....

True, the Council should have better visibility and control of what's going on.  But just imagine what it's going to be like when the Council take the service back 'in house' before July 2020. And you think things are bad now!

Greenford BroadwayMissed food bin collection yesterday (Thursday). The much abused online setup was used later that evening to report the missed collection. I get the normal bounce back email promising it will be collected the following day. It's now 20:22 in the evening and it still remains untouched.Does anyone know how to get the smell of council generated bullsh*t off their hands?

In my experience, our elected "representatives" never represent our interests if the matter relates to the competence or honesty of the Council and its officers.  They ignore representations. In doing so, they are failing in their duty as councillors and beyond that as public servants. Elsewhere on this forum there is a suggestion that their payments should be reduced.  A good idea.  Whatever it is they are remunerated for, it is not for ignoring their constituents. Which ward are you in so that we can identify them?

I am reliably informed that the waste/recyclable collecting contractor (Amey) has a number of vehicles under repair and off the road, hence there is a shortage of vehicles to make collections.  Amey are doing 'catch-up' on affected routes.  Aside.
