I introduced my mother to computers as a 70th birthday present. After lots of training over a year she finally developed the ability to surf and Google her way through the internet. She has no other ability other than surf and search from the Google search box. The first thing you have to do to report fly tipping online is open an account with the old corruptables at Ealing Council. To use the formal complaints procedure you need to have knowledge of emails and email clients. Both of those are beyond the capabilities of our fellow elderly residents of Ealing. There is no other avenue listed on the website. Our elderly, disabled, and infirm are shaftedMr Bell's method of running his corrupt ship stinks too much of nazism where only the elite can take part, but only after they join their little gang.

No but councils used to run IT sessions.  We all have different systems and ipads which are one of the easiest buys are very expensive even when secondhand.

My eyesight is not as good as it used to be, I have even lost my best eye due to infection. However I use Free Open Source Software (Debian Linux) and have full control over screen fonts and sizes, and can even start the screen to speech reader if needed. Free software does not offer huge incentives to political back pockets, so no help or advice from the council.

I did investigate recently for a friend and the Middlesex Association for the Blind run the computer courses at Age UK in Hounslow.  However it isn't easy to suggest to someone with a problem with their sight ie a visual impairment (they certainly don't consider themselves blind) that they should contact an Association for the Blind. Good point Dennis.  Not only is it difficult to deal with Councils now without the internet but many of us are now needing to work out how to increase the size of the text on our computers and how to use apps to magnify on our phones and ipads especially since we will be needing to be able to communicate with others who are all using different media.

Bearing in mind the internet never hit the UK until 1992 i think sod the kids, they have 10+ years of computer education coming their way. What about the more elderly, most of whom don't have a scoobie when it comes to computers. Ealing council actually block their access to vital services because most don't understand how to use a mouse let alone coming to terms with Windows 10
