This is only conjecture, an unqualified idea for the delay. Before brexit we were the european financial district. We had the City of London and the fast expanding Docklands. We were attracting the global headquarters of some very big companies. To maintain our roll as the financial sector of the E.U. we needed to provide a more beneficial route between Docklands in the east of London, and our premier airport in the west of London. Crossrail was the solution. It's undeniable that it was needed, As there was a strong financial reason for Crossrail we ploughed billions into into it.When we voted brexit we severed all hope of maintaining our roll as the financial sector of Europe. Suddenly we have a white elephant.
