Has anyone seen the above program on BBC? It is a show about how the humanity took off in 20th century in advancement in several fields and put forward four candidates in different fields for voting by the viewers for one.The first episode saw veteran itv presenter Trevor McDonald presenting his 4 political figures of 20th century.Winston Churchill - Perennial candidate for this category!Franklyn D Roosevelt - a revelation to me Nelson Mandela - A good choice though can't beat Churchill in some respectMargaret Thatcher - Yes. She changed the UK but on World stage should share with Reagan and GorbechevDo you agree with these choices or are there anyone else whose bold views and statesmanship change the world better.I am interested to hear your views, choices etc.

I agree with you about Churchill and Thatcher Peter.Ah! I wish if we had a Churchill Ian leader today, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Definitely Churchill because of the war. But for me Thatcher's legacy has been diminished because of the mistakes made and that the economic model of trickle down promoted by her and Reagan has been found wanting. we see a lot of problems associated with affordable housing which can directly be tied back to that dogmatic era. For me i would have though that Mahatma Gandhi or Konrad Adenauer who effected greater change. For me Churchill is so fascinating because he was an unlikely leader and that he had a cabinet with labour and conservative ministers who all despite their differences worked for a common goal.
