Refuse Collection

Does anyone know which Councillor is in charge of refuse collection, and if they are on twitter. Last week our blue bin was not collected; I reported it and get a response and it was not collected again the next day, as promised.Today, our food bin was not collected. I have reported it but am starting to get a tad pissed off by it.

It was a typing mistake which has been rectified.  Whew because we hear that that there have been some bad turkey around.  I hope everyone managed to get theirs back to the shop and changed and complained about rather than needing their food waste bin!  Having said that there are people who don't seem to realise that some food needs to be refrigerated.Looking at these recipes (and not having cooked for ourselves this year - and had the Christmas meal out and cooked by the younger generation - I really miss all those leftovers!https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/christmas-leftovers

It's now standard LBE operation under "Two Houses, Two Jobs, Secret Council Loan, 'It's the Tory Cuts!'" innnit - householders are to be dismissed, we are rather inconvenient and annoying.

That was the crux of the email i received. It was a full blown telling off for reporting a missed collection before they could lie, leaving me locked out by their online reporting setup. People on the should know better side of the fence have noticed the flaw and should know better.

What's infuriating of course is the immediate stance that what "The Manager" comes back with is gospel (the collection is NEVER "wrong"), and the inference that you, the householder, are lying.We get such a great service and support from LBE Refuse & Recycling don't we.

I had a similar problem last year, so each week photographed the bin with time and date, then when i received the "not in the right place" response sent in the photo. Hasn't happened since.

"Each time i tried t6o report a missed collection it was rejected because they had reported that i had never left it out for them."This seems to be very common with the Food Recycling Collectors mainly, who would appear to be rather slack at their job.  My Food Recycling is regularly missed and I always get back "The collectors reported it was not left out." reply.One of us has reason to be economical with the truth, and one does not.

When you report a missed collection online you have to be quick. I had a four or five week period where my food bin wasn't collected. Each time i tried t6o report a missed collection it was rejected because they had reported that i had never left it out for them. After a few weeks i figured out that you stand at the window with the missed collection typed out and hit the report button the moment they miss the collection you get it posted before the bin collectors have reported you as not having left your bins out. That kick starts them sending you an email telling you off, You then reply with an email full of threats of enforcement action. That last step is important so don't miss it. You then get your bins emptied. The refuse department online reporting setup requires skulduggery mixed with perfect timing mixed with hobnailed boots. The problem is the online setup doesn't give you all the steps you need to follow, and some might think that the urine is being extracted, perish the thought.

I hope residents are reporting when their bins aren't emptied because unless you do the Council and Councillors don't know that this has happened.It is made more difficult now as we have the changes in collection for Christmas and New Year and the collection is also being brought in-house.  See the front page article:http://www.ealingtoday.co.uk/default.asp?section=info&link=http://neighbournet.com/server/common/conrubbish2018001.htm

Food waste wasn't collected this week on Salisbury Road and several adjacent streets. Council swept our streets and filled up loads of their bags with leaves at least 3 weeks ago (could be 4 or more) and left them on the streets of Northfields, where they have stayed ever since. Bags now starting to split open so soon will be back on our streets (and by now rotten).

Well, ours (and that of our neighbours) was not collected at all. It's due to be collected again tomorrow. Let's hope they turn up; we rather have a drive full now and the foxed had a bit of a party in it last night..

I definitely didn't see anything about delay in collections.I noticed the Xmas collections will be 2 days after our normal day, which is understandable.

They did have something on the website - there still is - in News and Events but it isn't very obvious.  The banner across the front page is much more obvious.

All mine taken on Thursday instead of Tuesday.If it was funeral related then I forgive them. They should have posted something on their website about late collection and the reason for it.

Mik Sabiers is the councillor, but I believe he is on maternity leave SabiersM@ealing.gov.uk, sending an email to donotreply@ealing.gov.uk would do about as much good. Our street's blue bins have not been collected either.

The info about last week's collections was on the front page of this website and on the LBE front page. I presume you are referring to an automatic response that the bin would be collected the next day when due to the circumstances this was not going to happen.http://www.ealingtoday.co.uk/default.asp?section=info&page=conaccident032c.htmThe article on the front page has now been changed to give details of the fund for the binman's family.
