Eaton Rise Development

The developement of one house in Eaton Rise into a site of 7 flats is typical of what is happening all over Ealing. The Council appears to grant all such development, front and back gardens are disappearing at an alarming rate. It is all about people making money but the Council and the Government claim it is necessary because of the demand for housing, never mind about the environment.

Andy, historically your theory worked, unfortunately the rise in house prices and stagnation of wages has been so great since 2010, this economic argument no longer holds true.

All housing is by definition affordable otherwise it wouldn't be built. If you build homes that are beyond the price range of those on the lowest income you will still be creating a potential supply of housing for them because people who buy the new homes will usually be moving out of cheaper ones.

Ealing council are getting worse not better. They are approving anything.Just look at the recent approval for houses behind the Red Lion that will have no vehicular access and rubbish / recycling will be on pavements.The shortage of housing is for affordable housing - the applications being approved that are destroying our heritage and Ealing character, will do nothing for that issue.

Are you sure that planning permission was granted and that the development is being built according to plan. Is there adequate space for recycling and refuse storage - inside and outside the development?  The Council is getting better at asking for this but it is always useful if the community also keeps an eye on things.  After all it is the rest of the community's neighbourhood that may otherwise suffer. Poor fire separation and sound insulation between homes can make life dangerous and miserable.
