What is social prescribing?

"... the Health Committee to make social prescribing an accessible form of health care ..." - Dr Onkar Sahota, Gazette, 19 October.  Is this the social weasel word as in social justice? When I was a pharmacist I dispensed no social prescriptions.

Not drugs but it seems to be a name for directing people to find help and advice. My occupational therapist daughter had not heard of it. So I think ignorance of the term is common.

You didn't give out social prescriptions as a pharmacist because the whole point of them is that they are not drugs.https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/publications/social-prescribing
