Uxbridge Road Safety Consultation

LBE are carrying out a consultation on walking along the Uxbridge Road. I found out quite by chance, no mention of it at our Ward Forum the other week.  Have any of the relevant Resident Associations or Forums been contacted?Here is the link:https://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/201042/current_consultations/2477/uxbridge_road_safety_consultationHow are you supposed to find out about these consultations, unless you check the council website on a very regular basis.

The Uxbridge Road survey closes on Monday 12th November. There has been a very good response, but they want more residents to have their say. If you haven't already done so, can you complete it? You don't have to do it in one hit - keep coming back to it as many times as you want.As an example, tell them how congested the island space is between Marks & Spencer and Christchurch. Do you feel unsafe at times when crossing? You might be in a wheelchair and want to comment on the road surface or lack of suitable crossings. It may be that you want an easier crossing point, or you would like there to be more benches to sit.

If we make it more difficult for motorists to park and drive for the short distances the majority of them drive for then they will be discouraged and sensibly turn to healthier more sustainable ways of getting around.30% of Ealing's households don't own a car why should they be harmed from pollution, noise and the danger? If you'd like to know what the problem is for walkers go Crashmap http://www.crashmap.co.uk/Search and enter the location - you'll see the results of hundreds of people being hurt and maimed by motorists.I haven't driven locally in Ealing for years and it's so much easier, if you need to go somewhere (even the supermarket) walk,  just hop on your bike or the bus. It's better for our mental and physical health. and not only that helps build community as you're more likely to bump into a friend or a neighbour when you're not in your car. Give it a try, you'll find it a revelation.

You can return to the survey as many times as you like so, for example, you might find yourself at a stretch of road that you hadn't previously commented on. If that is the case, go back to the survey and add your extra location(s).Remember that the consultation is for the whole length of the Uxbridge Road that is maintained by Ealing:- Askew Road in the east to the canal in Southall in the west.

Wheres the problem with walking along there??What specifically??All I know the car/motorist will be penalised.Theres a lot of strips across various roads at the moment to monitor traffic flow.Mahfouz & Bell will come up with yet more stupid schemes by prohibiting traffic, preventing various left & right turns & making surrounding roads congested = pollution.Any poor sod trying to cross the roundabout at St Leonards, Gordon Rd, nice knowing you good luck.I therefore raise a complaint which by all accounts the council are meant to take action.Such as a cockeral crowing in some remote village & waking a townie.Hmm lets wait & see

But we seldom see the results. I have replied to this hoping to keep cyclists and pedestrians separate. In Amsterdam cyclists and walkers shared the same spaces. We are not used to this and some cyclists have no regard for pedestrians by swapping between road and pavement or travelling very fast.

I'd say check the council website regularly. It's the horses's mouth as it were!
