The worst thing about the decline of the Gazette is that there is now no property reporting of issues that affecting our democracy. It has been a long time since Gazette reporters turned up at Ealing Council meetings to scrutinise what is going on in the name of the ratepayers.

I thought that article was quite amusing - it is clearly written from the point of view of a younger person. It is quite old and recently the Gazette seems to have wound down the already sparse coverage of Ealing and Acton even further. I rarely can lay my hands on a copy of the paper and the exasperation caused by their highly annoying Get West London web site means that it is not often a fulfilling read. A good local paper is important for a community but we simply don't have one.

Anyone with any experience of journalism will have had the book "Daily Mirror Style" rammed down their throats during their training as the right way to write punchy accessible copy. I am certain that the word "arse" is not in there.
