Cpz price rise for diesel cars

Can someone explain why cpz costing is going upbased on CO2 of a parked car. This is nothing but theft. If that’s the case why electrics cars have to pay for cpz. I understand if it was a nationwide scheme but is just handful of crupt greedy councils in London. Last year when they first introduced cpz in West Ealing we all said this is what’s going to happen. Now they got us we should excpet rise.

The money can only be spent on transport projects, which could include supporting the Freedom Pass, highways staff and road maintenance. However, the interest earned on the money raised can be spent on anything, so large surpluses created a useful interest income for the Council.

I thought it was a goal to own an electric car. Well I wonder does the government want you to because if you buy one costing more than £40000.00 you pay £310 preminum tax for the first three years. What is the cost of the car? Well its the brochure price including delivery pre delivery inspection. So if you see a car at say £40000.00 and manage to get a £5000.00 redection you pay £35000.00 but still pay the tax.

I've just had a response to my freedom of information request. The Council currently has  £7,024,415 sitting in its parking reserve account - the holding account it uses for surpluses raised from parking charges.At present the Council has only allocated £375,000 to be spent in the current financial year.Looks like they really, really need that extra £500,00+ they are screwing out of CPZ residents.Anyone unhappy about the changes should email Councillor Mik Sabiers on mik.sabiers@ealing.gov.ukTell him that you are unhappy about any increases in charges, Regardless of the guff about it being to 'save lives', it's just another tax.

Exactly TH.The motorist gets persecuted at every oppurtunity.Cars are an evil necessity, like them or not.The transport infrastructure is shot to pieces.Motorists are taxed at every turn by dumb councils, some of whom have led people to kill themselves through their idiotic schemes.Said it before, penalised for parkiing, speeding, emissions, illegal turns, tax, diesel, mot, insurance etc etc.Councils TFL, cause congestion & pollution

So how many families can't possibly park ALL their cars in front of their single house?  Don't you think that it could also be said of residents that they are being totally indifferent to other residents of the need to share the small amount of space that there is?

Of course the Council tell us we should all switch to electric vehicles, which indeed would mean cheaper CPZ permits.However, they fail to understand the realities of living in terraced roads.1. Charging a vehicle if you haven't got a drive to park it on would entail running cables out of the window or door, across the front garden and the pavement and possibly the road. This would create a hazard and is not really practical, especially at night.2. It assumes you would always be able to park outside your house. How often is it the case for everyone that you end up parking some distance away from home, sometimes on a different street.3. I am told by Cllr Paul Driscoll that we should all be better neighbours, so that if we needed to park nearer to home we would be able to ask our neighbours to move their cars - that assumes that those neighbours are actually the people parking outside your house and that they are not themselves busy trying to park their cars.Absolutely stupid, stupid people in Labour. Ignorant and arrogant and utterly indifferent to normal residents.

Thanks, Fred, for the council link that you included in the previous thread, much appreciated.  From the info given on the Ealing Council CPZ webpage, it looks like my own CPZ annual fee will increase from £58 (that I paid in October 2017) to £130 from Oct 2018. What a laugh! Well, I say it's a laugh because I am lucky enough to have a drive on which I can park my car. So Grinning Julian and his cohorts can henceforth go swivel. However, I do feel the pain of Ealing residents whose accommodation doesn't include a driveway.  But the financial persecution (by the state and its minions) of car owners is only just beginning, I'm afraid . . . . .

Has anybody caught sight of a definitive Ealing CPZ new charges list, and a definitive date of when the new CPZ charges will come into force?I've seen, on this forum's website, a woolly, vague, coloured list of 'old and new' comparison CPZ charges, but it was not complete, it didn't show all car categories, and neither did it show any start date when the new charges will apply.

To have a surcharge for emissions at the time a vehicle is producing no emissions is wrong, any surcharge should be for when a vehicle is producing emissions.

It's the Council's sneaky way of raising more money from motorists.The issue came to light in June, after the election, but the Council has tried to hide the implications from residents. There's a £50 surcharge for diesel cars more than three years old, and surcharges for any extra vehicles registered at the address.I started a petition calling for the proposals to be scrapped. It attracted 2,800 signatures from across the borough and was presented to the Council two weeks ago. It was, of course, ignored and the Council insists it is doing this to improve the air quality in the borough.What it proposes to do is unlawful and I am in the process of challenging it. It is simply a money making exercise, since they are also going to allow commuters to drive in and park in CPZ areas in so-called shared use bays. They will pay just £4.50 a day to park and will be able to have whatever car they like. There are numerous posts on this forum from angry people.
