Report a missed recycling or rubbish collection

Two weeks running food bin not collected. The council website deserves an award for user unfriendliness. Too many steps. Too many screens to fill. Some are confusing with one telling me I could not report. Too slow to  load. I await to see if they respond tomorrow. Do any councillors bother to read this forum?

& can someone tell the food bin collector not to throw our bin as they break it. We now need a new one because of their carelessness

I've found it easier to make reports through "My Account" on the LBE website.  The other reporting missed collection page says that there is a computer problem which is causing residents problems.  I have heard from a Councillor that people have been complaining about that bit of the website.

Waste bin collected Friday morning, a day late and food waste bucket still not emptied at W130.

I have made a formal complaint about the Council’s continuing failure to collect my green waste.  It has a double obligation in that respect, the contractual one with the householder and the underlying legal obligation to remove household waste, which according to the relevant EU directive includes green waste.  We are paying twice for the service, once by council tax and again by the fee the Council charges.  Of course, the Council is ignoring my formal complaint.  Its complaints procedure is another “service” it fails to deliver.  I see no hope of improvement if the Council takes over the collection of waste.  I am sure Mr Raymond, the gentleman who contributed the remark on the likely underpayment of the men who actually do the work, is quite right.  It is a phenomenon well-known in other spheres.  But what we shall end up with when Ealing Council takes over are operatives better paid and performing worse, in the comfortable knowledge that Ealing Council will lie through its teeth before it will admit it could be doing anything wrong.  The real garbage that needs to be disposed of in our borough is that at the top of the Council itself.  Recycling or Landfill?  Something more drastic, please.  It’s toxic. .

I live in the borough of Ealing and I was born in Hammersmith Hospital. As a Project Surveyor for a Housing Association who visits scheme London Wide... So I have a pretty good look around as I travel the 32 Boroughs.. Hillingdon in the West to Redbridge in the East. To Enfield in the North to Sutton in the South and everything in between from Rich to Poor Ealing is suffering!!!

Not particularly defending the services that the London Borough of Ealing provide but how do do you "live and work" in in all 32 Boroughs in order to make such a judgemental statement?

The buck stops with the Council who implemented the decision to out source rubbish collection and award the contract to Amey!! The Council service for street cleaning, rubbish collection and highway maintenace has never been this bad... Just look around the borough!! I live and work in the whole of London and Ealing is one of the worst. Shame on the Council

I read that LBE are terminating Amey's contract and bringing the collection back in-house so that they hopefully have more control of the way the work is carried out and the workers are paid better.Maybe all the little terraced houses which have been vandalised by and struggle with the dangerously large and difficult to manoeuvre wheelie bins will get an offer of being allowed smaller ones instead of being told they don't exist when they can see that others have them.  I won't hold my breath.All households need to be reminded that they should be putting their recycling in loose and not bagged.  It must be time to campaign for a larger charge for carrier bags since so many can obviously afford to throw them away.  Sainsbury's changed to thicker plastic carrier bags and I wonder how many people have read what is written on them:"When this bag is worn out you can return it and we will give you a new one free.  We will then recycle your old bag.  This bag is made from 100% recycled plastic." This is the original meaning of Bag for Life.

I think you need to realise that the administration is in power for another four years so does not need to do anything much until 2022.

When my neighbour tried this as she has so little waste it remained uncollected.  The caddy locks just as the food box does and of course needs less washing and takes up less space in the home.You learn to make less waste.  You can question what you are throwing out.  The other day I discovered someone who only uses the white bit of spring onions which really surprised me as I use all of them finding them a good and easier substitute for chives until I get more herbs growing.  The stalks of broccoli once peeled are good too. They tend not to last long enough in the kitchen to go into the stir-fry.I don't waste bread any more.  Sometimes I freeze part of a loaf so that it can be used straight from freezer to toaster. I'm better at switching to using it instead of pitta bread when it needs using up - a bit more management and a bit less indulgence! It is a satisfying achievement.

The last time my food box collection was missed I didn't report it to the following day and was told that it wouldn't be collected because I hadn't reported it in time. I just kept on entering the report form everyday and it was eventually collected a couple of days later. I can understand why they would ask for timely reporting. Some people might use it as an excuse to get their waste collected after forgetting to put it out or after a party which had generated lots to collect. However, the current system seems so unreliable that there will have to be lots of secondary collections anyway.

My food recycling caddy is put out in clear view and invariably remains uncollected, particularly since the new contractors. Sheer laziness in my opinion.But, of course, LBE & the Contractor contrive every time to blame some inaction or other of the Householder.And we pay Council Tax for this "service".

Yes but,by definition, they are about as useless as LBE.See earlier note about Ealing Common and the lack of action being taken by whoever my E Common councillor is meant to be.
