Northfields Avenue Resstaurants

Every morning I drive down this road & several Indian, Chinese restaurants leave refuse sacks out on the footway.These are desecrated by foxes whatever & the contents strewn across the pavements & road.The council do collect & sweep up everything, but surely this is classified as flytipping & couldnt there be a wheely bin provided to prevent this??

Good point PB & not one I had thought of.The immediate remedy is for some kind of sturdy & smallish bin to house a refuse sack only.Covert cameras will also play a part

The trouble with putting one on the footway for the restaurants is that residents then start dumping their waste in it too.  How long before you get a sofa or mattress added to it?  Timed collections should work in most places.  Separate food collections make a lot of difference.Establishments should be looked at to see how and where they can put waste because there has been a habit of not using any on-site space by some new restaurants when the previous ones had a wheelie bin/s on site.  Space for bins need to be kept as space for bins.

Exactly that PR. Surely the businesses could shell out for a wheely bin or have one provided by the Gestapo, sorry council?.I heard today they had no space for a bin, but even if its left on the footway as happens, it needs protecting.It every day/night & is avoidable

When I was working on Boston Manor Road in Hanwell our designated 'put-out time' was either between 5-6am or 8-9pm. Quite how a business that operates 9-5 is supposed to adhere to that is beyond me; we put ours out when the business closed at 5pm but had scant choice in the matter, otherwise we'd end up with an office full of bags and nowhere to go.

Most commercial waste contracts stipulate a one hour "window" for leaving bagged waste outside the premises.  This is typically early morning 7am-ish.I suspect that most restaurants have no one working at that time of day so leave the bagged rubbish out in the street when they lock up late the night before.So overnight the bags are vulnerable to attack by foxes and it is most unlikely that any Local Authority enforcement officers are on patrol in the dead hours of the night.

Its not just restaurants, we have flats at the top of our street and the residents leave black bags out on a Sunday. Come Monday morning these have been shredded by foxes with food waste, nappies etc strewn all over the road. The council contractor comes and picks up the black bags but of course they don't touch the litter. It's not until the street cleaners come several days later that its picked up.

Due to cuts the council probably have not got the resources to do this!!!

The council have regularly been told to do something about this. It ain’t rocker science. This is commercial waste that should be collected by the contractor. The council should go and check the buisinesses have waste contracts ,as required by law, and then check what time they are putting out the waste and what time is the pick up. If there are “problems” then the buisiness and waste contractor need tone told to get their act together or be fined until they do.
