Flytipping

Over the last couple of days some wretch has dumped ten black bags of rubbish in and around my council rubbish bin at the front of the house. Ringing our wonderful council I was told rubbish dumped on my property is my responsibility not theirs. I think I have found the solution but cannot possibly disclose it :-)

That's because I've seen it. Once the tenants have gone everything that they have left behind becomes commercial waste so if a company is called in to clear it they can't take it by van to the nearest Reuse & Recycling Centre.  The landlord used to take money off the deposit for having to clear the property...The builders who do work and then leave without taking the waste they have made should be factoring in the cost of removal and so should the householder/landlord.  Everyone  should be looking for alternatives to dumping stuff that can be reused (see sanitary ware reclamation for example} or recycled.

Phillippa that is a broad brush about Landlords, most responsible landlords dispose of their rubbish legally. The problem is that the local recyclying depot nolonger accept what they deem is builders rubbish so people now fly tip an extra cost to us all....

Prosecutions do not generate revenue, £400 fines do.

I did an FOI request from the Council last week because I was sick of rubbish being dumped outside my house - there's more today that appeared overnight.Despite the council claiming to be cracking down on it there were 1868 incidents of flytipping in the borough in the year from May 2017.Prosecutions for flytipping? ZERO!!
