We're lucky we don't have the problems that Cape Town has been having with a limit of 50l per person.

That's a very old page you have linked to, Kris. The Germans sold Thames Water in December 2006 to Kemble Water Holdings Ltd who still own it. Kemble is a consortium which used to be led by the Australian Macquarie Group. Macquarie sold their share last year.

It was privatised.  It is no longer owned by the Australian bank.  I can't imagine that more and more buildings being built without infrastructure helps either.  They are not the most expensive of the water companies though are they?

it seems the consumer suffers again and again while the directors of Thames Water reap the benefits. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2008/jul/22/executivesalaries.utilitiesThe salaries are eye watering, not to mention the German owner who I am sure is taking a sizeable chunk of cash away from investment within our infrastructure  - years of under investment has caused this issue with a crumbling pipe network  - just got the my latest water bill through through the door - gone up by again....
