Perhaps understandably no collection for me and the rest of my street yesterday - and who knows maybe the whole BoroughLess understandable is the lack of information on whether this collection is gone for ever and we will have to wait for for the next two week cycle or will there be attempts to catch up?Surely the Council website is the best and easiest place (for the Council) to give some clear information but it simply refers to some vague notice that the weather "is likely to impact scheduled waste and recycling collections" with no clue to what is planned.

It is obviously going to be difficult for the lorries to get down the narrow streets especially when there is car parking on both sides - and the majority of people weren't going to be going out driving because of the snow - so difficult to move the wheelie bins off the pavement and up to the lorries. Much more difficult to manoeuvre than black sacks!I still see unsquashed large plastic bottles sticking out of wheelie bins and unflattened boxes. I can understand that there may be some more bottled water bottles because of some water problems but why are so many people using bottled water in this country when they don't need to? Is it because tap water isn't considered safe in other European countries?

I have never had an overflowing wheelie bin, but most of our neighbours had bins which were really heaped up and the lids would not close. Cardboard boxes not folded flat probably made matters worse. I make sure all my recycling is flattened as much as possible. When we had a new boiler fitted I actually spent hours sorting out all the packaging which we then took along to Bollo Bridge Recycling. On Thursday my blue bin was three quarters full. Obviously there would have been a problem if it was not emptied for another week.If other residents were as careful as I am then there would not be a problem with overflowing bins and unsightly mess!

Presumably they felt that you felt that you would not be able to make another week without a blue bin collection. They ought to take extra recycling from beside the blue bin in the same way as they do at Christmas-time.If everyone flattened their plastic bottles and tins and dismantled and flattened their cardboard boxes they would have extra space. There are also street banks which can be useful to reduce the amount of recycling in your bin - but you need to check that these aren't already overflowing before you make the trip. It can be devastating to walk there and then find that the bin is full!If you order a lot of items online then you should give feedback to the companies that you order from especially when they use excessive packaging. Amazon have a feedback facility.Recently I made an online order which was delivered in two packages at different times of the day. The first was in a plastic bag but the second which was just two pairs of socks and which would have fitted through the letterbox had they been in an envelope was in a box at least 12 inches long and 5 inches wide with a metre and a half of bubble wrap! Needless to say I have taken a photo and will be sending a letter showing my dissatisfaction! I would have preferred if it had all come in the one package. I would have preferred cardboard and no extra plastic bubble wrap was at all necessary!

My Blue Wheelie Bin was not emptied last week due to the snow. I expected it to be collected yesterday, instead they emptied my Black Wheelie Bin.I queried this with the crew and was asked whether the blue bin was full. When I said it was almost full they then emptied the contents of my Blue Wheelie Bin to the truck containing household rubbish! This afternoon I noticed they were back in the area collecting rubbish from the blue bin!

Here in Claremont Ave W13 still no collection as of Tuesday tea-time, bins by pavements and in many case on pavements and overflowing - what's the excuse this time? Oh I know - normal collection day Thursday so wait till then!!

Don't forget that in other countries the householders are expected to clear their bit of the pavement. Here everyone complains that no-one (ie the Council) is doing it for them!

They would never be able to carry out a safe collection at the speed that they expect to (ie with as few operatives as possible). Just not safe to race over ungritted and unsalted pavements.I do wish that they would realise that a lot of people are not on Twitter or Facebook or even on the computer. If you have a computer you can access Twitter and Facebook even if you don't have them I have discovered. It is possibly easier for them to update these rather than the main website. Or maybe then you could then get conflicting messages.I'm looking forward to technology making it impossible for them to miss any Assisted Collections just because they've changed vehicles or anything like that which used to be an excuse.https://www.facebook.com/ealingrecycling
Apparently refuse collection was suspended for three days. Amazing, considering busses, taxis, NHS, Amazon functioned (as near as) normally. Still no sign of any collection on Monday morning in the Northolt West End area.

The Ealing Council website has a substantive update on council services.

They wrote on the council twitter / facebook it was suspended yesterday and again today but nothing more. Many people are replying about when their recycling / rubbish will be collected and no word!It is bad weather and the rubbish / recycling teams are gritting as their other job but nothing about what happens to doorstep collections now.
