£15.000.000 Knife Crime Budget

Ealing Gazette story. With all the cuts surely the police are allowed to stop anyone, any time, any pace, anywhere.Forget tables about certain groups, age, ethnicity etc, no softly softly approach.Simple & a lot less than amount budgeted.Of course it requires the courts to deliver maximum sentences & the  parole board not let offenders out after a few weeks

boils down to the gang culture and drugs, simple. The vast majority of the young people knifed to death are affiliated to a gang whose source of income is drugs. The battles over turf wars are occuring where the money is and young people sadly believe that carrying a knife will protect them, likelihood is it will be used against them.

That’ll bring all the “hang ‘em & flog ‘em” crowd out!DOH! Too late.Actually, minimum custodial sentences are already mandatory.But as everyone knows, this doesn’t solve the problem.We really do need to tackle the cause of the problem; why do (young) people carry knives, and how do we change this behaviour?Most will say they carry them for “protection”. And not to commit a crime.We need to better understand this issue.

Stop and Search needs to targeted at the right profile of the type of people who carry knifes, and when found with a knife they need the right punishment to deter, way too many young people have died, time for drastic action !

Tough on all the cry babies & liberals.Stop & search anyone.Shout, stamp, scream & if they have nothing to hide, will take a few minutes be on their way

Stop & search is rarely random, the way it was delivered within the community was at times questionable however.  Pre-2014 ( knife crime was at low rates at a time when stop and search was high) The then home secretary (Mrs May) threatened to take stop and search powers away from police after wide consultation  - the message to officers was in effect, don't stop and search - driven by politics. The legacy is now being felt as young men are walking around with knives with relative impunity knowing the justice system is not tough on knife carriers and murder rates are soaring.
