Is "Please hold on, the bus is about to move", the most surplus and annoying announcement designed by TfL.

The new message is slightly less silly but people take no notice. They are so used to endless announcements that they tune them out. I was upstairs on a bus the other day, as the message played, watching a young man walk up the stairs with his hands in his pockets.

On the E2 the "Please hold on, the bus is about to move", has been replaced by "Please hold on, while the bus is moving".

I have heard the announcer is called Sonya because she gets on ya nerves.

Just the very fact you get on a bus means you know its going to move, this has to be the most absurd announcement ever, A bus moves and stop, thats the whole idea.I agree with the comment on braking as drivers brake too abruptly in many cases. This is down to responsibility to the passengers which seems to be lost on some drivers.

Actually on a several bus journeys i have taken in the last few days the stupid Hold On announcement has kicked in early, whilst passengers are still getting on to the bus, and the driver is nowhere near ready to pull off.

TFL are a c**ck up.Anti car led by Mayor Khan with "every journey matters" nonsense. All on vastly inflated salaries implementing foolhardy traffic measures - of which I can list many just in Ealing.TFL cause pollution & congestion

How can it help with safety if after every stop the announcement is late? It is a co** up.
Graham Weeks ● 2938d
all down to health and safety and to reduce how many people sue them, no doubt.

And don't forget Klingon,Elvish and Esperanto!

Surely this is a slur on the competence of the British unless repeated in French, German, Italian, Flemish, Spanish, Urdu, Polynesian,.....

'Please hold on. The driver will brake suddenly as (s)he approaches the bus stop.'Or at the red light which has been clearly visible for ages. Or for no reason at all.
Susan Kelly ● 2939d
More fitting would be, 'Please hold on. The driver will brake suddenly as (s)he approaches the bus stop.'

What is most annoying is that it always plays after the bus has already started moving. I'd love to find out whose idea this was and "hold on"to their neck.
