Reporting fly-tipping on-line

I have a 90 second recording, and have extracted 8 snapshots, of fly-tipping behind my house today. If I use one web browser to access the Ealing.gov.uk website it hangs after I enter the correct address. I think it is supposed to show a map, but does not.Another web browser does show a map, but the pointer goes to the wrong location. If I drag the pointer to the correct location, behind my house, it shows the correct house number but the wrong road name. There is no postcode for the correct location behind my house because there are only beds in sheds along this stretch of road (yes, the council is aware, and has visited them in the past).Complaints about the council website get no response.

I run Linux, not Microsoft, and yes it is updated daily. I have the option of several web readers. The website asks me to enter the exact location, which I have done, OR place the pointer on the correct location on the map. If no map shows then I can enter the exact location as behind my house, with the correct house address which is not that of the road behind, but everything else is greyed out. If and when a map shows the pointer goes to about 50 houses away from the correct location, but if I drag it to the correct location it gives the correct building number but the road name is changed to the road behind my house. I have no idea where that building number in that road is located, if it exists.

+1 for fixmystreet. I've reported flytipping several times and it has always been actioned. Also useful for reporting potholes etc. - if it is on a TFL route they often deal with it same or next day, even if just a temporary repair.

Chris, have you updated your web browser recently? this may resolve the mapping issue,  just a thought. In relation to the location stick with the address which is recognised. In the description box you can describe the location ie behind house number xx or access to fly tip is by house number xx. If you have witnessed the fly tipping and have footage its best to call 02088256000 and speak to customer services asking for the email of the enviro-crime officer for your area. Ask them to log the fly tip so you have a ref number. CC in Bassam Mahfouz (MahfouzB@ealing.gov.uk ) to any e-mails sent. Fly tips should be cleared within 48 hours (Fly tips won't be cleared from private land ie those not maintained by Ealing Council or TfL) From experience, the investigation side takes time and requires time and effort on behalf of residents but usually gets results.

Try using FixMyStreet to make the report. It is not the official one but your complaint goes into the public domain so may get dealt with more quickly. Why public money is being spent on trying to duplicate a system that already does the job and then doing it badly needs some explaining.

I have reported fly-tipping before and was forced to set up "My Account", from a desktop (I do not have a smartphone) and reported the same problems then. My house is one of around 100 sandwiched between two busy roads, a red route and a part-time CPZ. This time it was a hired van around 0930 outside the CPZ limits.

Although not for reporting fly-tipping, my experience of using the council's website is not positive. It's like something from the turn of the century.  Did you try reporting the fly-tipping through the 'my account' option?  On a smartphone?  Desktop or laptop?
