Kerbisher & Malt closed branch in Ealing Bdy

Sad news the sudden closure on Friday of a brilliant Fish and Chips restaurant Kerbisher & Malt (opposite Ealing Town Hall) with the best fish in London from this small chain. Was told rent was going up 25% and too much. I hope with the redevelopment of the cinema and other areas independent and small chains will not be forced out with high rents. End result left with the big chains. Sad news as great fish, lovely atmosphere,spotless and closure is our loss.

I miss Maggie's too, they always had two for one offers as well as great burgers if you went on the right day of the week! They said they were closing because the freeholders wanted to redevelop the site, so I was a bit annoyed when it just became another restaurant after Maggie's didn't seem to have been there five minutes! I guess the new people made the owners of the building an offer they couldn't refuse, and they were able to somehow terminate Maggie's lease.Such a shame about K&M as well, the last fish and chip place within walking distance of where I live. It was great fish and chips too.Of course I've never stopped mourning the loss of Maxwells........

we really need a proper chippy in Ealing, especially now that the one opposite the tube station is now yet another kebab shop. Kerbisher & Malt seemed to let their standards drop recently.

That's a shame. I don't quite understand how places like Kerbisher & Malt shut, but places like Mikla or whatever it was called (where the perfectly decent Maggie's used to be) and Figs & Olives just continuously change their names and remain open, even though they seem to be mostly empty and get very bad food hygiene ratings...

No I shall revert back to my wonderful Fish and Chip shop in South Ealing Road nr junction with Popes Lane but only take away but very good value and good fish.

You will have to revert to British like everyone else and eat Indian  .. or Chinese ...or burgers.
