Ealing and Southall police stations to close

Sounds like the usual politicians cop-up, close the small police stations situated in high streets, build great big ones in office blocks and then close them because nobody uses them. Perhaps they ought to get in touch with Dr Who and ask him/her if they can have their blue telephone box back.

Being more central in the borough Ealing would make more sense as base for the borough's police. However, development potential seems to be the main driver here. If the level of crime reported at a front desk was deemed to be important why put a station well away from the centre of town.

When Norwood Green Police Station closed there was talk of closing Ealing then, Ealing was again for the chop in 2012

How long ago did the 'little' police stations close?Hanwell (as a police station) over thirty years ago, old Acton Police station - around the same.Society has changed, the mobile phone and internet rule and the SNT offices have answerphones. I remember the last time that I went to an 'actual'  police station to report a theft, it was in 1993!
