HEATHROW THIRD RUNWAY

I see Parmjit Dhanda has succeeded Rob Gray at Back Heathrow.A shameful occupation you might think for a former Labour MP to be supporting a multinational corporation who want to kick working class families out of their homes.In case he hasn't noticed I should remind Mr Dhanda that the Heathrow Vilages are a Labour ward in the constituency of John McDonnell.Presumably he has heard of him.I note that in Get West London Mr Dhanda was quoted as saying that Heathrow expansion would create "huge numbers" of new jobs.We have heard this nonsense before at the time of the Terminal 5 opening.It didn't happen then and it won't happen now.A couple of years ago a Heathrow director said at a public meeting that expansion would only create 1-2000 new jobs because of automation.What will happen in the unlikely event of a third runway is a huge increase in aircraft noise,traffic congestion and air pollution which will blight life in Ealing.The only people to benefit from a third runway would be the foreign shareholders of Heathrow Ltd.To paraphrase a third runway would be to the advantage of the few and not the many.

more chaos at Heathrow with problems with the baggage handling system coming hard on the heels of BA's IT failures.Time to get the existing airport sorted rather trying for expansion.As someone once said we need a better Heathrow not a bigger one.

we won last time and now we are up against a government with no majority and plenty on its plate e.g.Ireland,Brexit,NHS and security.Local authorities are preparing to go to court if the Government proceeds with a third runway.The lawyers would make lots of money out of this.They are the ones who normally win.

The actual truth is that the pollution factor would prevent the third runway unless they banned cars and buses and lorries from miles around. so it becomes an airport that no one can access easily. The are however plenty of people prepared to sell the third runway in the hope that planes get cleaner and that by then other transport gets cleaner which it may not. But once agreed then other people i.e. locals will be made to clean up the environment to allow this to happen. There is a fundamental dishonesty about these proposals anyway.

I agree on all these points  - but however illogical, damaging or unfair the proposal the large corporations always seem to win.
