Really disappointing isn't it?Even Tory voters locally, are disgruntled, and even more so over the fiasco of the social care manifesto declaration. In the South East this could affect almost anyone, anywhere of any modest circumstance. But this is always a problem when prospective MPs are selected at the last knockings. They have not prepared or engaged well enough. They have no proven local profile well enough established with any solid achievements. It takes time and effort to achieve that - and that is proven commitment. And a real ear to the ground of local opinion, not just of a parties stance or own opinion.Or you make a solid stand on an issue. It seems to be common in this election so far, aside from Brexit a lot needs sorting and doing and is in manifestos, but engagement with the public in person seems very lacking. But the leaflets are all abysmal. The manifestos are lacking in detail. A bit like the Mayors fares promise. - too many "Ah! But's".Irrespective of Brexit or National issues, Local issues do play a very big part in any informed voting decision ( often it works the other way in local council elections) But avoidance of engagement. That's really not encouraging and not too helpful for those who do get out and try to canvass voters.Personally Arthur, I think you would be a good MP. and probably as an independent. You would certainly ruffle a few feathers in the establishment.
