Green Redeem

More than once I have been given a code for points or discount and it is not valid. There does not seem to be any way to give feedback. Ideas?

The site seems to have had a bit of an overhaul but the offers are still fairly unattractive and the local ones have largely gone.

I haven't seen an M&S voucher appear for some time and the last few times they did they quickly 'ran out' even though I thought I responded very quickly. Slightly suspicious they don't really exist but we still keep clicking that email every week in the faint hope they might return!

I think the Green Redeem website is a joke!  Each time they send an email saying that one can apply for an M&S Voucher the offer is done before I log on!There is nothing interesting in the money off offers and I don't want a Fat Face voucher!A complete waste of time with no incentive to keep reporting each week, although I obviously do recycle.Maybe they should go back to the drawing board

Green Redeem's web site has had an upgrade and seems to be a bit more user friendly.They haven't reintroduced the facility to donate your points to local community groups but you can nominate a national charity and the one with the largest number of points at the end of each quarter gets £1000. In other words £4000 a year donated. It's an odd system because donating your points doesn't mean that more money goes to charity just that your chosen charity is more likely to get it. If you don't have a strong preference there is little incentive to donate other than there apparently being no particularly attractive way to spend your points.

It's not that there is nothing to donate to but that 'all our projects have been generously supported'. Green Redeem has apparently done so much good in the borough that there is nothing left to achieve.

I used some Green Redeem points for the first time on Sunday. The points I spent entitled me to a £20 money offer voucher. However, when I entered the code on the company's website only £15 was deducted from my purchase. Green Redeem emailed me on Tuesday to apologise explaining that the company I was making the purchase from hadn't told Green Redeem's marketing department that the promotion code was for a lower amount. .As a gesture of goodwill, Green Redeem offered me double the points I had spent to 'purchase' the voucher.

Has it ever been disclosed exactly how much was given to community causes by this scheme?

But nearly half a million pounds was spent on setting this up and promoting it. It is scarcely believable that this was for a scheme which had such a short shelf life.Ealing Council will claim that recycling rates did increase while this scheme was running but it has been claimed that the rise is to do with them incinerating more waste as opposed to sending it to landfill. Can anyone confirm this is the case.Either way the take up on Greenredeem seems to be so low and there was no actual incentive to recycle more so it is likely to have little or no impact on recycling rates.

The site isn't down.  The problem is that I haven't been able to donate my points either.  There hasn't been anything useful that I need or even want for ages. I'm really not interested in gambling away points.No composters, wormeries, green johannas, school projects, allotment projects, hospice projects, elderly care projects etc...

Thanks Susan, that's a shame.Seems like the left hand has not connection with the right hand as I still receive the 'tell us that you have recycled' e-mail each week.I'll leave the account 'dormant'  Who knows, perhaps it will be resurrected and I can donate 4000 points.Thanks again.

Paul, after doing a bit of on-line research it would seem that the Green Redeem scheme was funded as part of a government project for a set period of time. Now that period has finished, the scheme is dead - with budget cuts Ealing council clearly doesn't have either the manpower to organise or the funds to pay for a continuation. I assume that the limited life was because it was believed that once people had got into the habit of recycling, they wouldn't stop doing so. That's probably true, but I liked the concept of being able to choose local activities to fund as an added benefit. Not vast sums of money for sure, but I'm sure it helped while it lasted.

Sadly the whole site now seems to be down as I can't even report 'I have recycled'.I really hope that they reintroduce the 'donate' element of the operation.I don't want simply to spend the rewards and was hoping that my thousands of accumulated points could go towards a local good cause, hopefully a school garden project or similar.

It's now a joke.Redemption codes fail, but your points are still deductedYou cannot donate points to local good causes.I can't even find a way to unsubscribe from the damned site.
