Knitters wanted for Ealing Dementia Concern's Twiddle Mitts

Patricia from Ealing Dementia Concern will be in the Ealing Broadway Centre on Thursday 18 May 1-3pm as part of Dementia Awareness week to appeal for knitters and donations of materials for Twiddle Mitts which are muffs with buttons, beads and other embellishments. They can have a calming effect on people in later stages of dementia. Information about Twiddle Mitts and a pattern can be found on the Ealing Dementia Concern website. I think that this is a great idea.  My mum used to have a couple of those multi-coloured juggling balls to fiddle with.  They helped to keep her fingers busy and gave her something else to concentrate on when her carers visited.

Good idea.  I will have a look through my wool basket to see what I can make.  I have downloaded the pattern, not through Ealing Dementia but found it on other hospital sites.If I get one done where do I hand it in?  My mum has Alzheimers but is not at this stage yet.  Sad to think she may well need something to fiddle with in the future
