pavements

I have just tripped on the broken pavements in Windmill Road in front of Windmill Court Almost every slab is broken. I fell friday and I would like to thank the four or five people who came to my assistance. However I am 79 years old and falling is a worry. So far I have escaped with bruises but things could be more serious.

Do hope it is fixed and Keith Mason on the mend.What I should have put in my post about my fall was that the pancake van man selling pancakes right by the bad paving commented that he had seen two people fall that day there. I saw another person trip straight after me - so there were at least three.  There is a heavy footfall along that bit of pavement in Oxford so pedestrians are probably concentrating more on not bumping into each other.  I do wish that shops and businesses would take a bit more responsibility for reporting poorly carried out paving replacement after building works.  I know it might not be their job but it might be one of their staff or one of their customers who comes a cropper.  And not everybody just gets up and walks away after a fall...

Hello Keith, I have received confirmation from the report I logged with the council (about the broken pavements outside Windmill court) that this job is now complete.Hopefully they have been fixed.  I don't pass that way myself so be good to hear from you that it is actually done.  Bassam Mahfouz confirmed that he would follow it up himself.RegardsSharon

Skip lorries, dustbin lorries, builders merchant delivery lorries and those long scaffolding lorries are a problem.It's nearly a year since I tripped and fell on a rocking and raised paving stone in Oxford.  Initially I felt fine - no bones sticking out at odd angles and no dripping blood.  However I am still having trouble climbing stairs.I do hope that you recover fully from the bruises and any strains.You should complain to the Council about the paving stones where you fell.  There is a Report It page on the www.ealing.gov.uk and also an app.  It is probably also worth writing or taking a screenpic of your report as I'm not sure you will have any evidence of your report -ie when you reported the problem and what exactly you said otherwise.

People driving cars, vans and lorries up and along pavements is what causes this.
