Why do people show such lack of respect

I was out walking my dog yesterday afternoon, at about 4pm in the afternoon.  I was walking to Elthorne Park along Boston Manor Road.  I noticed a head poking up from behind a bush in one of the front gardens. I thought it was odd, so as I was walking past I glanced back and saw that the man was urinating behind the bush.  Bearing in mind this is someone's front garden.  I also heard a banging on the window of the said house.  I shouted at the man, saying how disgusting this sort of behaviour was, and that front gardens are not public lavatories.  He just started babbling in his own language, (Romanian I think) shrugging his shoulders and laughing.  I tried to catch up to him, but unfortunately my dog didn't want to rush his walk, so I only got a photo of this man's back and not his face.  I'm assuming that this is common practice in his own country, but I think it's disgusting!!!

An ageing population and all the public lavatories being closed down. What could possibly go wrong?

Agreed. If I need to go and I am out I often will wander into a cafe looking around as if to find someone and if challenged say I am due to meet a friend. Don't think I would have the confidence to do that in a foreign language. Obviously wouldn't like to find someone using my front garden as a toilet but would recognise they may have had no alternative.

Too true. Too true. Does Ealing have an actual council-owned toilet anymore?I have had to learn extremem self control while waiting for buses in Haven Green. Dozens of busses going all over London leave from here, but at midnight WHERE CAN YOU PEE in desperation if caught short??????

I think its a ticketable offence called "public urination" and used to cost £70. As the police in Ealing Common and South Ealing Neighbourhood ward (they've been merged) seem to be totally incable of stopping pavement cyclists on the pavement in South Ealing while on patrol I don't think that you have much to worry bout!

Not so Ridiculous, Getting done for indecent exposure will naturally lead to the sex offenders register. I have seen this reported at least twice over recent years. It is an easy arrest. Depending upon how pernickety the police are it could be an easy one to make them look statistically better. They would not have done that years ago, but then there were more public toilets. Getting caught short can happen to anyone. Traffic stuck on a closed M25 meant a dash up the embankment last year. So i usually go to the toilet before i leave home but a 3 hour closure for an accident and fire forced me to do the necessary. Yes a front garden is bad.

As for "getting caught short", no excuse whatsoever. I've never had to do such a thing in public and if I saw someone doing it in my front garden I certainly wouldn't accept such an excuse.

^^This is what really troubles me (or rather, my wife!).A 45 min tube ride from Town after a night in the pub is often a real test, and she constantly reminds me of the risk I run when caught short!We desperately need more public conveniences.Where is our former civic pride?Must everything be justified commercially before we take any action?

Very true Susan, The lack of public toilet facilities are pretty scary at times and in fact in Holland and France i have seen people trying to be discrete but still urinating in Public. I remember being at the old Wembley for concerts and seeing the queues for portable toilets for the Women. terrible in most London Theatres and long waits. So having been caught short myself a few times over the years I understand the need. But of course getting caught short and caught by the Police means that you end up on the sex offenders register nowadays as it makes the statistics look better.
