Richardson butchers Northfield avenue

I've heard elsewhere that the shop is closing, I really hope it's not true. I've been visting this place since I was a nipper. One of the things I love about Northfields is it still has a proper baker and a butcher.

Tried hook and cleaver for the first time yesterday. Have to say I was very impressed, really good selection and friendly service. I never thought Richardson's chipolatas would be topped but the H+C version are dammed close.

There are plenty of 'stop and shop' parking places just off the main drag in Northfields.  I've pretty much always been able to find a space in Kingsdown Avenue (more or less opposite Parker's by the side of the church).I would have thought it's more difficult to park at Ealing Common.

I was devastated when Richardsons left South Ealimg. I could never find anywhere to Park at Richardsons in Northfield so now go to a fab. butcher in Station Parade near Ealing Common Tube Station. They sell other traditional foods and wine too. Bit expensive but worth it.

Hook and Clever offer free delivery for a spend of £20. And you can also phone orders through and collect.

They will be really missed they were so well known in the area.  Now that everyone is expected to work every hour of every day and all their lives it has made it more difficult to shop during the working week for something like meat which needs refrigeration. It just isn't as easy to fit a visit to a shop like this in but was and is always worth it!  I cooked large casseroles and froze half of them.  We're still looking forward to the chicken and chorizo.

Surely part of the reason for the demise of traditional butchers is supermarkets and also small shops becoming halal which is only half a butchers.

Humour:I think there will be plenty of (boned and stuffed) turkeys available from the council from Christmas. They will all have nametags such as: Mahfouz, Bell, Naysarek,...

This is a real blow.  I've been shopping at Richardson's for many years.  The quality of the meat is only surpassed by the quality of the banter!Where will I get my (boned and stuffed) Christmas turkey from now?  Let's hope Parker's doesn't disappear next.

It's only suburbs such as South Ealing and Northfields that seem to have butchers now. None in central Ealing for years.

Perhaps another butcher will see an opportunity to open up in Northfields but this is terrible news just as the avenue seemed to be doing better

That is such sad news. The quality of their meat is amazing, more expensive than supermarkets but worth it. Have tried Hook and Cleaver but to us it didn't compare.

Sorry to see a local business going. I too love the Hook and Cleaver though and wish they would take the premise on Northfields Avenue...anyone from H&C reading?!!

I shall probably have to go to hook and cleaver now, I heard its going to be in the hands of developers meaning presumably more expensive flats. This is such a loss to Northfields.

Go to Hook and Clever on South Ealing road. The quality is amazing and they have a wide range of different meats and fantastic sausage that they make.
