Does anyone know when the South Ealing Road to A4 junction will re-open

Its several days now since the junction of the South Ealing Road and the A4 has been closed due to gas leaks. The 65 bus has been on diversion.When will it re-open?The work done is extensive though obviously not permanent. Over a dozen epoxy patches have been applied to an 18 inch gas main in half-a-dozen excavations spanning the junction. The patches are not permanent so the question now is whether National Grid Transco is going to cover up the patched mains, or replace them now, or cover them up and replace them in the future?Anyway, the question is: when will the road junction re-open?Does anyone have any idea when?

Sadly it gives me no pleasure to be right in suggesting that once the first two lanes of the A4 had been restored at the junction with the Ealing Road, the gas people would dig a hole in the third lane!My prophecy was not quite correct in that tonight the Ealing Road/A4 junction remains closed even though the road has been restored complete with markings. Likewise, I erred in suggesting that lanes one and two would be reopened leaving only lane three closed. The A4 is down to one lane with lanes two and three closed tonight, and a big hole.Additionally, the south-bound turn on the roundabout there has also been closed so it is not possible to turn down to Brentford there. The 65 remains on diversion, the indicators in the South Ealing area are not accurate and there seem to be extended intervals on that bus. I wonder when TfL expect things back to go back to normal there?

It would not surprise me if they dig a hole in lane three of the A4 next to the roundabout and in the roundabout itself once they have restored lanes one and two in the A4 and have re-opened the Ealing Road. I take note that there is a caged-off open manhole cover on the roundabout probably for gas ventilation and the No Smoking signs are still there.

TfL say - Route 65 is on diversion until 0500 Monday 27 March due to roadworks.

The excavation has now reached lane 2 of the A4. Yesterday that section of the road was down to one lane. Cannot see it opening anytime soon. Never seems to get a mention on local traffic reports. TFL says 65 is diverted via Windmill LANE (not road) which is quite different.

Back onto the topic of the closed South Ealing road and A4 junction. The scale of the work is enormous. The battlefield is enormous, the trenches are many, and the original pipe technology is probably Victorian.I counted 13 of the yellow encapsution seals each corresponding to a leak that had been sealed.Now is Photobucket is behaving itself:The original pipe technology is probably Victorian and here is an example of a pretty amazing probably Victorian cast iron valve.The trenches are manyThe battlefield is enormous

Does anyone have any suggestions for a picture hosting site that works with Ealing Today and the correct way of inserting picture call-outs? It is almost worth photographing some of these efforts.

Thank you for that Lee. Meanwhile if you want to see some 1880s industrial history still in use (there is a great Victorian valve on view, the Victorians could be very creative with in cast iron which was their plastic).
