I tip my hat to "Arbuthnot" who made the following comment elsewhere about the proposed building project:"I may be wrong about this, however, I seem to recall a strategic command and bunker complex being built under, or linked to Northolt Air Force Base around twenty or thirty years ago. So unless Sadiq Khan intends to fund the moving of a massive strategic NATO underground command facility hundreds of feet under the ground to elsewhere in the UK I cannot see this realistically happening - I am guessing that it would cost around £300,000 per home to move the command facility assuming a build cost of around £6 billion for a new bunker complex of this scale, not to mention that it would probably taken a minimum of 10 years to build"Perhaps Council Leader Bell knows something we don't or perhaps he is just completely nuts, it takes SOMETHING to trumpt the £30,000 Ealing Council christmas tree made of old fizzy drink bottle a couple of years ago. But he's done it.I can think of three explations.1)He knows what's under the ground there and knows it won't go ahead and is just using it to distract us from other more evil plans.2) He genuinely doesn't know what is there and it seemed like a good idea.3) Someone set him up with this idea to make him look like a complete idiot.From asking around, even though its not openly "published" knowledge, plenty of locals worked on the project when it was built.a)It goes down at least 30 storeys (300foot plus).b) Its hardened against nuclear attack.c) It has underground transportation links to bunker complexes under central London.d) It is an active NATO military command facility.e) It is a "small city down under there".Anyway, even if it were possible to "unlink" the Northold Air Force Base from the hardened bunker complex under it I am not sure that I would want to live directly on top of a military facility that would put me at "Ground Zero" of a groundburst nuclear weapon attack designed to take out a military complex 100 metres beneath the surface level.So, Council Leader Bell, what are you really trying to do here? Or have you been set up to look like a fool?
