A Stroll around Ealing .........

The sights one can see on a walk around Ealingshow that it is no longer appealingWhatever has happened to this once lovely place?the state of our streets now such a disgrace Dump your mattress and your Christmas Treeout in the road when no-one can see.Pile your black bags on top of your binThe neighbours do this - so is it a sin?Just throw your rubbish outside your doorNo-one seems to care any moreDiscarded drink cans, beer bottles toolying in the gutter, what are we to do?Even the bin men have no sense of prideWheelie bins are just left outsidethey litter the pavement for days on endshoddy behaviour one cannot defend.Fallen leaves are not swept any morediscarded food packets and rubbish galoreDoes nobody care? What on earth can we do?For suggestions dear folks, it's over to you!

They should have just put Council Tax up minimally to cover the cost of these instead of proclaiming the false No Rise in Council Tax year after year and then sneakily separating it out.  Just implementing changes costs money - and they keep on failing to realise and take account of the fact that there will be consequences some of which they are bound not to have bargained for.  Why do they keep on believing silver-tongued sharp suited marketeers?

Actually the Council have been gradually increasing the revenue they receive from residents.The introduction of Resident's Parking Places.The charge for collecting Garden Rubbish which was FREE under the previous administration.Fining residents for putting rubbish outside their own homes.I believe they are also making more money by picking on motorists, especially along Gunnersbury Avenue!They are SAVING money by not cleaning our streets on a regular basis!

I was once a very active streetwatcher. All political parties once acknowledged the worth the programme brought to the residents of Ealing. In its absence, I have been using the cumbersome on line forms and drafting emails with the reference numbers to the chief exec of Ealing Council cc’ing ward councillors, the leader of the current administration and the portfolio holder for environment. This seems to get results. The more they are aware of the issues in our borough the more likely things will get done.

I think the streets were cleaner before the introduction of Wheelie Bins.Since the Streetwatchers scheme was ditched by the council in May, just before the introduction of the Wheelie Bins it has been more difficult to report incidents of antisocial behaviour. Residents who became Streetwatchers gave up their time freely, so it is a shame that this scheme has been abandoned. We were the eyes and ears for the council.With fortnightly collections and no street cleansing the contractors must be very happy with the set up but so many gardens are full of overflowing bins and of course MORE black bags because their bins are full.Some residents in my street did not leave their bins out for collection perhaps because they had no idea what date these will be emptied. After Christmas the collection has been on different days.Can you imagine what would happen if the council decide to have 1 collection every month whuch is already been tried in some areas? We might end up with rats the size of dogs!

Would you favour a local  referendum to increase council tax? One local authority is asking 15%. With your answer you should indicate your interest. Do you pay council tax yourself?

Increase council tax and direct the funds where they are needed rather than introducing stealth taxes here, there and everywhere so you can maintain your 'headline' that you haven't increased council tax for X number of years?
