Recycling Real Christmas Trees

It always amazes me how so many people manage to buy these and get them home but then can't make sure that they dispose of them carefully.  We are already starting to trip over them in the streets.Here is what the Council website says:https://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/201171/recycling_services/1652/recycling_your_real_christmas_tree – 29k"Between Wednesday 28 December 2016 and Friday 27 January 2017, you can leave your real tree on the front edge of your property, to have it taken away for recycling. Trees will be collected on the same day as your refuse and recycling collections each week.Tree trunks must not exceed 20cm in diameter, or be more than six feet tall (taller trees can be cut in two). Please ensure all decorations are removed.Alternatively, you can also take your Christmas trees to one of the council's parks and open spaces listed, up until Sunday, 12 February."Then there is a list of all the parks etc where you can take them (too numerous for me to cut and paste individually).It is a good part of Christmas experience to go for a walk with the children to your local park dragging your Christmas tree behind you. The sight (and smell) of a large mound of Christmas trees is also worth the visit.

How about emailing your Councillors telling them this and complaining that we need to have information for a system that works and asking them to sort out where the system has failed?  Luckily this year I don't have one - although I could have dragged one - as long as it wasn't huge - to the park.I couldn't work out when the collection was of the trees we were tripping over - Tuesday or Wednesday (our revised collection day was Wednesday).One of the things I noticed was that the info regarding Christmas tree recycling/collection was not in the magazine Around Ealing or on the paper flyers telling us how to download the new collection calendar (rather than giving us one).  After all not everybody is on the internet or has a smartphone or ever will be/have one. You can find your Councillors email addresses if you go to the next-but-one line on the bottom of front page of the Council website on the right hand side.www.ealing.gov.uk

I have now left my Christmas tree (under 4 ft in height) outside my home alongside the bin on the two collection days we have had since Jan 1st.  Needless to say, not collected. I asked the rubbish collection man today about collection, but he said it was not down to them... Trees are beginning to litter the pavements.  I would take to a collection place but would have to drive to one, and now the tree is dead I don't want the needles in the car.

It is always supposed to be on YOUR OWN property and not on the public walkway though - and collection day here is not until Wednesday.  If you don't have room then why not take it to one of the special Christmas tree recycling places? The calendar for collections doesn't go back to normal until MONDAY 16 JANUARY - a fact that quite a few seem to have forgotten (easy mistake in the early morning rush) but not almost a week ahead when we can't be sure of what weather we can expect.

Yes its easy to leave it out on collection day, which we will do.However some do like to take it to the local park....regardless of which pick up places the council say! ie there are trees in Blondin and Lammas, as usual.
