Northala Fields
Did anyone else notice in the current edition of The Week magazine "Pick of the week's correspondence" column came from Stephen Pound? If you didn't read it in The Times, I repeat it in full:Your correspondents suggest that basement excavations from Claridge's could be used to create hills in Hyde Park. It is an excellent idea but, not for the first time, Ealing has got there first. The glorious peaks of Northala Fields enliven any journey along the Western Avenue, and the visual pleasure, as well as the joy of climbing heavenwards, is increased by the knowledge that these modest suburban mountains contain most of the old Wembley stadium, as well as the spoil from rebuilding Gifford and Ravenor primary schools.Where Ealing leads, Hyde Park can surely follow.
