It's not foreign aid in the main, it's foreign investment.For instance, vaccine programs, and drought measures etc..You'd be the first to complain if a virus got out of hand and spread here or drought caused a mass movement of people that affected our trade and interests...

With Virgin having won this contract it will be interesting to see how it pans out.There have been so many cock-ups with computer contracts with the NHS and Government that there has to be a chance that they might come up with a better way of integrating and maintaining the working of services.  We can only hope.The alternative sounded good too.

We have done this for years,get real we need help and money here for our needy,This Country helps everyone,who helps us,no one!!!We are now being asked to cough up for social care,This is theresponsibility of the Government by way of general taxation and not a rise in Community Charges?

Aid should be there but should be run on an ethical basis. i.e. things that would help local people gain access to wider markets and allow them to be more productive. clinics, bridges, irrigation, etc.. things that can target people in need of constructive help.

We should certainly not be financially aiding countries such as India and China who can afford their own manned space rocket and satellite development programmes.

I was shocked when i found that this foreign aid is all about investment in companies that may or may not help the countries concerned and are often in countries which are not the poorest. This is not about helping the poor and improving agriculture etc. but about greed.

Better an across the board rise than all these stealth increases in charges which simply divide and discriminate.And as long as the increased revenue goes on social care and not to the pockets of executives, or the coffers of overcharging contract holders.

Cutting corporation tax probably isn't wise at this time but after Brexit they have no choice.

Nobody ever wants any rise in tax which is why unfortunately the Councils have not put up tax when it was needed.  Its all the fault of our political system.  We have had the strapline of 0% rise for so long we now have to have a bigger increase.  Part of this has to be used for social care which is on the brink of collapse and has to be ring-fenced for that.  Hopefully there will be other Government interventions which will improve social care.  Council Tax can only be put up a small amount without costing the Council more in a consultation. The Government won't allow it. There should be an all-party solution to the social care problem.Unfortunately the cynic might think that once they have succeeded in finding places for people to leave hospital to go to that the beds will then be closed.

This is a proposal from central government and is something Theresa May is considering to improve social care.
