Garden Waste Collection

Has anyone else had a problem with the Garden Waste collection. It has been a month since my Garden Waste wheelie bin has been emptied.  I reported a missed collection twice online. I also telephoned Ealing Council hoping to speak to someone directly but unfortunately it was all automated telephone system.. I today posted a written request for my Garden Waste bin to be emptied. As this is a paid for service on top of our council tax you can imagine I small not too pleased with the service we receive from the contractors of our refuse and recycling.

Still no response from my two online reports, telephone report and letter about missed collection. On Monday it will be 6 weeks since the garden waste bin was last emptied if it gets emptied then.

What also seems to work is Tweeting.  Take a picture and put it up.  There seems to be a better and quicker response if you do that.  That in effect works because it makes it public.  What I have also been told is that every time you report a missed collection the contractor gets fined.  You could also demand that your payment gets extended by the weeks which were missed.  The worst thing you can do is ignore it.  Make it public so that improvements will have to be made for all our interests.

We must not let the contractors reduce the service they are contracted to do by just not doing it.  It takes an effort to report it - so please make sure you do so in the interests of everyone - and as you have done here don't keep quiet about it.  You can be sure that you are not alone!

Hi, Susan, I also had a problem with my Garden Waste not being removed from the wheelie bin earlier in the year.  As you say, not great, especially as the cost is on top of the £274 approx. Council Tax paid per month.  Maybe I was lucky as it was removed after a telephone call. I hope Ealing Council respond positively to you soonest.
