Happy Christmas Ealing

Most towns put the CHRISTMAS lights up between mid October and the end of October.About 5 years ago Torquay Council decided not to put them up until the 1st week in December, but the shops said they lost a lot of trade because the people went shopping at Newton Abbot and Exeter because there was no "Christmas feeling" in Torquay so they put them up at the end of October since thenAlso I would like to point out that it is a Christmas Festival, NOT a Winter Festival, being a Christian countrywhishing you a Happy Christmas

Perhaps somebody could charge an electrical engineer with designing street lights which can have celebration lights plugged in easily, at short notice and at any time without the costs of wiring the things in.  Would be lovely to put them up or switch them around just by plugging or unplugging them....

I was amused when I saw that item in the newsletter and the web page that went with it. Of course the lights across the town square pictured are the normal permanent lights, although I do remember thinking when they first went up last year that they actually were the Christmas lights!Not so sure about those ones in Oak Road though.......

Hello there, I work for Ealing Broadway Centre and would just like to point out that the lights referred to in the article are not Christmas lights, they are the permanent lighting for the areas. The lighting in Town Square has been up for over a year now. The Christmas decorations for the centre will be installed week commencing 14th November, our Christmas market starts on 18th November and we will have our Christmas experience from 19th November onwards. From that point on we will be wishing all our shoppers and visitors a very merry Christmas but until then, it is business as usual. Kind regards, Lucy Thomas
