Windows

Hi All, anyone used a replacement window company recently. Sadly, we can't stretch to hardwood so it has to be UVPC but I'm not up for a 3 hour sales pitch. Any recommendations please? Thanks

I would recommend Pat Padmore, based in Greenford, a father and son outfit, they never advertise, never leaflet drop and don't have a website. All their work comes from recommendations which speaks for itself.

Windows don't have to be hardwood. Most of the stuff used in Nordic countries is treated larch, fir, pine, (whitewood/redwood, etc.). The fact that smoething is "hardwood" does not mean that it will last for a long time, our damp climate rots pretty much everything which hasn't been treated. You could look up "wood windows".

There are many options, for example some are aluminium alloy outside, UPVC inside, which can build a relatively thin frame compared with standard UPVC with steel inner frame.
