Rats - don't read if you are sqeamish!

Twice recently I've found a half eaten rat in my back garden, next to the railway line near Ealing Common.  Rather worrying, but better than a live rat of course!Could it be that they were half eaten by a fox, cat, bird or even another rat?

I don't believe that you generally get rats and mice together because rats eat mice.

I have seen two live rats plus a skeleton in a trap that had only been left for a few hours

Foxes always ate rats...  and slugs and snails.  Unfortunately people kept leaving out other food for them.

With the introduction of wheely bins, animals can no longer find as many black bags to rip into, so maybe now they are going for other animals such as rats...

Maybe the rats didn't taste nice ie were poisoned.  Unfortunately when rats and mice are poisoned domestic cats and dogs can end up being poisoned too. There is a food chain and we shouldn't forget that.
