Distraction theft in Morrisons (Supermarket)

lease be aware that there are some nasty thieving people about in and around Morrison lately and one of them just stolen my elderly (pensioner) mother of her pension by distracting her and took her bag along with her two weeks' pension, debit card and her Doro mobile phone. God luck with selling the Doro phone, its not exactly the most solve after and trendy phone going.However, the fact they stolen an QAP pension, that is just predictable and heartless - (IMHO).However, the thief distracted my mother by knocking over some items near her and as she went to pick them up, her bag was stolen.Please take great care when you with draw money from the post office or any banks. As there are people watching you specially on "pension" days.

I have installed high definition IP Power-over-Ethernet cameras plus an off-the-shelf recorder at home. The cameras use motion detection and compression to reduce the hard disc requirement, so the time to over-writing depends on the amount of motion, the number of cameras, and the size of hard disc. It is interesting how good the CCTV or cameras are in the clip on the front page regarding a knife crime - and how bad it/they seem to be elsewhere.  If the CCTV is very poor perhaps they should be encouraged to improve it and safeguard some of their more vulnerable (and often very loyal) customers.

Morrisons may have CCTV coverage - would be worth asking. The police won't bother. This happened to my Mum a few years ago and the police said they didn't have time. Sadly for her it was in the Co-op in South Ealing who didn't have cameras.

Thank you Philippa. Its been reported to Acton Police and the mobile phone service provider also the card cancelled. All I want is that others don't fall for this same despicable act of theft and total disrespectful for OAP.

Such a mean thing to do and so unsettling for your Mother (and you).  I hope that you both get over it fast and that your warning will alert others and these scumbags are caught.

Hi Jim, really sorry to hear about your Mother, I do hope that she was not hurt. Yes there are some very nasty people who abuse and take advantage of others.  Thank you for the warning as it sounds as though she was followed after she collected her money. It will make me more alert too when I observe an obvious distraction!
