Boundary Changes

I have often wished that my ward was not located in the domain of Vivindra Sharma, now it will not be. Will things get better or worse in it if these changes go through? The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

No need to split Southall between constituencies (Southall and Heston & Ealing North) or split Hanwell and West Ealing between three constituencies (Southall and Heston, Ealing Central & Shepherds Bush and Ealing North).Suggested changes, which are still within the BCE's electoral quota for new seats:Southall and Heston loses Elthorne and Walpole and gains Dormers Wells and Lady Margaret:77237 – 9276 – 8502 = 59459+ 9059 + 9625 = 78143Ealing North loses Dormers Wells and Lady Margaret and gains Elthorne and Walpole 73408 – 9059 – 9625 = 54724+ 9276 + 8502 = 72502

Frankly, way past caring. Nothing makes any difference. The country continues to get nastier, less equal, less educated and more divided. Anarchy seems appealing to me right now.

Living in Elthrone I feel we do not have an MP, never seen him or even heard him talk about Elthrone, Elthrone should be in with Northfields as both are very much the same and have the same issues

"Thus both Northfields and Walpole would be better in Brentford and Chiswick as they face almost all the same local and social issues."I'd say they'd be better grouped with Elthorne, Hobbayne and Cleveland which at least are in Ealing as opposed to Hounslow. I think something along these lines was proposed for the scuppered 2015 review.I think it's worth bearing in mind that the proposed changes are supposed to be about numbers rather than grouping roughly similar areas. Having said that, there is something odd about the fact that I could make the less than two mile journey from where my mum lives to my home and pass through three different constituencies.

Ever since  Syd Bidwell MP, All the attention has been focused towards the Southall part of Ealing -Southall.  It's been courted and solidified by Labour for generations, but at the expense of the other end of the constituency which is less unquestioningly Labour and wavers from left to right but not significant enough to ever bring about a change of party, or deselect a duff MP.The last 3 MPs when Walpole was in Ealing-Southall only ever set foot in Walpole ward to park their cars at South Ealing Station - usually outside the family home.  At least we got to know them! And pleasant fellows that they were, their only knowledge of the ward was where the Labour hall was.I have no problem with them representing the often divided cultures of Southall and the extra work those MPs have had to put in to bridge those religious and cultural divisions and do their best as impartially as possible.But it had been at the expense of leaving a whole raft of the constituency as both insignificant and neglected. Walpole has been far better represented since it moved into it's current constituency of which it is a natural component.Thus both Northfields and Walpole would be better in Brentford and Chiswick as they face almost all the same local and social issues.The same can be said for Heston and Southall which have the same scenario.At least this way the MP can be more representative and objective for it's local constituents.

Another weird thing is that Lady Margaret and Dormers Wells, which are actually in Southall, won't be in the Southall constituency.

One of the things that I ave heard said in Northfields and South Ealing is that Vivindra Sharma, the local MP, rarely shows any interest in this area. He focuses his activities on the Southall part of his constituency, rather than the Ealing part of his constituency. Furthermore, after the interests of Southall he does seem to prioritise issues in other parts of the world connected with the culture of Southall. Moving Northfield ward over to Ruth Cadbury might help the Nortfield ward area which includes South Ealing and Northfields, though that would remain to be seen.

Utterly ludicrous to throw Walpole in with Southall and Heston. Totally different demographic, geographic and social needs. Have they not learned from  previous boundaries that renders MPs torn between differing problems and priorities. And that's without even the political overtones.Same goes for Northfields.  actually accessibly nearer to Southall and Heston but lumped in with Brentford and Chiswick when really Much of Walpole is nearer in demographic and geographic to Brentford and Chiswick.it might not make much difference to the political bent of either district but it sure makes for a very difficult task of being able to represent hugely diverse populace. As we all know, one size does not fit all.

Assuming you remain in the LBoE I doubt you'll notice any difference. You'll still be at the mercy of inept Labour councils.The weird one for me is Walpole getting lumped in with Southall & Heston? To me the scuppered 2015 boundary changes made more sense.
