Philippa,Yes they are available,and a good investment,I don't at this time know if fire detectors were fitted in the flats where the serious fire was in Acton,they were extremely luckyas due to cuts in London there is are only one fire appliance at,ACTON,CHISWICK and PARK ROYAL,fire Stations,all were available for this incident,the circumstances may have been very different.regards John.

Thank you for the help  in spreading the word,one more detector filled may be one life saved,remember the first fire minutes of a fire incident is yours,fit a detector,if it operates due to a possible fire condition,get out and stay out,call the fire brigade once outside.

On a large shopping site, they range from £5.99 upwards.I was inclined to take advantage of this offer but feel guilty of perhaps being deemed greedy.For instance do you need more than one, maybe I could make a donation
