Ealing Town Hall Designated an Asset of Community Value

Now that the Ealing Town Hall has been Designated an Asset of Community Value who could we entice to make a more community/social use of it?Two thoughts come to mind to me:YMCA (sports and housing)YHA (Youth Hostelling Association) Hostel for budget tourists

Obvious place for the public library.But the viability of the site for any use is now impeded by the complete lack of adequate parking for a building of that size.That reduces it's usefulness for the rapidly growing age related groups and voluntary organisations which are increasingly stepping in for faltering and oversubscribed NHS and Council services. Renovations and improvements always end up costing local authorities 10 times that of what it costs private ventures and usually with mediocre results.If they could manage to get that under control then the building could have a continued proper use as a community hub.

There is already a YMCA in Ealing.As for the new designation for the Town Hall, Who are Ealing Voice I've seen nothing of whom they are or what they represent, I take it from the name that they represent Ealing but to what extent?They have 6 weeks to propose any intent for the building, do they have a backer with  deep pockets?Maybe if they organised a co-operative they could open the old town hall as a Cinema (al la Barnes Olympic Studios) or another purpose for the benefit to the community of Ealing! it is a civic building after all.

Those who have visited Swallow Falls in Wales will note that the main hotel and the YHA hostel are part of the same complex and are run by the same "company"; an interesting example of acceptable quality. Why should we not accommodate the worlwide youth that will be the most adventurous influencers of tomorrow in a prime site in Ealing?

For what is supposed to be a upmarket area and Queen of the Suburbs  until the  Wheelie bins were forced upon us,anything like accommodation is out of the question?

Wouldn't it make a lovely counterpoint to the hotel due to be built on the site of the current council offices next to it though? Not to mention the worldwide youth of today passing through and being impressed by Ealing; rather the plastic airline businesspeople "passing through" the equally plastic airport-accessible hotels springing up around Ealing?

I suspect that the economics will overtake that idea.  Not sure whether backpackers need to be housed in one of the most attractive buildings in Ealing.  Central location too.
