Chișinău (known as Kishinyov to the Russians, Ukranians and probably to its now non-existent Yiddish-speaking Jewish population, and usually mistransliterated in English as Kishinev) is not the capital of Moldavia, but of the former Soviet republic of Moldova, which is the core of the former Rumanian territory previously known as Bessarabia. Moldavia is still one of the provinces of Rumania, capital being Iaşi (pronounced Yash, and traditionally known as Jassy in English) and has been since they got themselves out of the Turkish empire a couple of centuries ago (the empire-building Russians pinched Bessarabia and much else off the Turks in the same era, but lost it to Rumania in the aftermath of the Bolshevik revolution and the post-WW1 settlement). And to complete the unhelpful confusion, I worked for Hammersmith & Fulham Council for an eighth of a century in highways and transport and never heard of a Chisinau Road, and don't believe there is one.
