Will Boris be brilliant or a dog's brexit?

Much speculation about the appointment of Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary.  He does seem to have a tendency to what Prince Philip termed 'dentopedology' - the reckless insertion of the foot into the mouth.Will a man who once described Hillary Clinton as 'a sadistic nurse in a mental hospital' be able to foster our special relationship with the US?  Will he be able to subdue the competitive spirit that saw him rugby tackling a 10 year old in Japan and bow to the interests of diplomacy?It's an interesting appointment, isn't it?  I have a theory that Boris has been given enough rope to hang himself and will not last a year in this job.  Meanwhile, however, we may not be on speakers with the rest of the world after he is unleashed to do his tactless worst.

Yep.........probably true. He's a knob but as he's a public school know, the masses will adore him. He'll shoot himself in the foot at some point but I'm sure he'll do it in the best possible taste.

Not easy to give up citizenship, Boris wasn't allowed to enter the U.S. on his British passport. U.S. officials told him that since in the eyes of U.S. law he was a citizen, he needed to show an American passport

You can't just give it up - it's a relatively tedious process to get approval. It also can be rather expensive due to fees and potential capital gains tax on your assets.

He's a citizen of the USA, he could easily just give that up if he doesn't want to pay a USA tax bill...

I personally think that he hill surprise everyone. He shown consideablr skill in getting what he wants on minority interest issues such as the Thames Garden Bridge and the Boris Battle Bikes. I await with interest fir his coming actions. He is not vain as he was the only politician to visit PM May ina suit that was not two sizes too small for him/

Rumour has it that Mrs May was given a list of possible appointees to her new Cabinet.  Against Boris's name she wrote 'F Off' and Fate moved its huge hand....

I wish Boris all the best, he certainly did a great job at promoting London whilst he was the Mayor and see no reason he can't do the same for Great Britain.

I don't think even Boris would be so petty as to formulate UK foreign policy because of personal animus!

I hope he gets his own back on the Americans for taxing his home because he was accidentally born on US soil.  Maybe the next time they ask for UK troops to help - then ????

Hopefully this exciting post will be the making of Boris. Only time will tell but I think people should give him a chance.I wish him luck,
