Breakfast

Can anyone recommend a place for breakfast in the Northfield/South Ealing/Hanwell area?  I mean a traditional English breakfast with proper sausage and bacon.We used to like The Walpole (although the attitude of the woman who took the orders could have done with some improvement), but they no longer do breakfast these days.Also used to like Leon's in S Ealing, but they have now taken to serving something which is more like a thin strip of shoe leather than a rasher of bacon, so we don't go there any more.  Creperie Cila on Northfields Ave also give you this strange excuse for bacon - so we've ruled them out as well.The Big Bites Cafe at Hanwell Broadway do an enormous and cheap, but not particularly good breakfast.  Cafe Gold don't seem to offer an English-style breakfast at all.Any ideas?

There is also a new cafe opening on the Popes Lane parade a little further down from Travis Perkins.Back to Leon's, however, it would be interesting to know how much it has sold for as the new Polish shop a few shops up the road from it was listed at £25,000 sale price with an annual lease rental of £25,000 before purchase for a significantly larger floor space. Anyone have any thoughts on what Leon's went for?

Interesting news - will have to give the new Leon a try.Some friends gave us breakfast last week as a result of my initiating this thread - and excellent it was too.  I need to think of some more things to moan about so well-meaning friends can make my life easier!

Dear Ms. Leach, I understand that things are about to change at Leon's. The word in South Ealing that the establishment has been sold and the new owners are due to take over in a few days. Of course, any improvement woul dbe qualified by who the new staff will be and the quality of the new menu.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Nevins in South Ealing is now doing real expresso machine coffee as part of its set English breakfast package as well as real bacon and sausages.

I quite like Papillon on Northfields Ave, they do a great Eggs Benedict, but not sure about a Full English. Cafe Onik just on the corner of Argyll Road and The Avenue does a good Full English

Haven't heard from Gerry for quite a while.I wonder if he has tried the all day breakfast at50 St Mary's Road  W5?There are a choice of size of breakfast - it is good to be able to have a smaller size one!

Not many places doing an English breakfast, Just goes to show how much ealing has changed over the years.Back to subject,the drayton court hotel does a nice breakfast,more fancy than filling but a nice location.

When I've finished eating my breakfast I like to play with my wifes boobs. If I tried that in a greasy spoon cafe I'd end up on the sex offenders register.

I'm with Thelma on this one.  I can cook a pretty mean full English breakfast but since it is something that we don't eat every day and it is a sort of special occasion thing (may only be weekend!) it is good to find someone else who cooks one nearly as good, as good or even better!

Good thinking.  Also consider keeping hens, pigs and a bean tree.  Can coffee be grown in the UK - outside of a Kew greenhouse?

Nells Cafe Northfield avenue excellent choice of breakfast good quality proper bacon & sausages (farmers market not cash & carry) proper coffee & reasonable price, very good dinners too

Two places where I have had good breakfasts recently are:1) Nevin's Cafe (next to the Popes Ln/South Ealing Rd Jctn.2) Bronek's Park Cafe in Nortfields.Both serve real pork bacon, though the set menu includes instant coffee (Bronek's allows a second free re-fill).

THX Harry.I've tried the Horseshoe, but not for a while.  Very sulky waitress and awful tea - especially for an establishment owned by an Irishman!Perhaps it's improved - should give it another go.  Or maybe it was just a bad day!

Horseshoe cafe  boston road hanwell,opposite wickes.Often very busy but always very good quality food.
